China's full-ocean-depth manned submersible Fendouzhe, developed by the China Ship Scientific Research Center based in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, has recently been named one of the 2025 global top 10 engineering achievements.

This recognition was announced at the World Federation of Engineering Organizations 2025 General Assembly, which was recently held in Shanghai.

The selection process involves global nominations, expert recommendations, public surveys, and committee evaluations, underscoring the award's high authority and international influence. The selected projects span diverse fields, including space exploration, resource development, artificial intelligence, and materials science.

Fendouzhe first broke the 10,000-meter milestone by descending 10,058 meters on Oct 27, 2020. The vessel then set a new national record by diving to a depth of 10,909 meters on Nov 10, the same year.

In recent years, Fendouzhe has played an important role in critical fields including seabed resource exploration, environmental surveys, abyssal scientific research, and deep-sea archaeology.
