The predecessor of Yixing Library can be traced back to the Tongsu Library established in 1917 and the Yixing County Public Library of 1926, boasting a history of over 100 years.
The new library building has a distinctive shape. The architectural style emphasizes openness and a spacious layout. Its completion enhances the cultural landscape of the historic city of Yixing.
The new library covers a total construction area of 34,305 square meters, features 1,200 reader seats, and can accommodate 4,000 readers daily on average. It is a highly digitalized, comprehensive, multi-functional, and intelligent urban public library. Its current collection includes nearly 1 million volumes, subscribes to over 600 types of newspapers and periodicals, and has more than 10 different databases.
