Liyuan Park is located on the beautiful shores of Lihu Lake. It initially consisted of two adjacent private gardens covering 123 mu (8.2 hectares).
Liyuan Park stands out in Jiangnan with its unique water landscape, featuring charming hills, waters, refined courtyards, and magical gardens. It is also renowned for the romantic legend of Fan Li and Xi Shi, dating back 2,500 years. According to legend, during the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC), Fan Li, an official of Yue State, rowed here with the beauty Xi Shi. The lake is named after Fan Li, and the park bears the same name as the lake.
