The Chong'an Temple Scenic Area is located in the center of Wuxi and is open to the public 24 hours a day, free of charge.
Chong'an Temple has served as Wuxi's political, commercial, and cultural center since ancient times, earning the nickname "the most Wuxi place". It is home to China's earliest modern public park and the country's earliest county-level library. About 1600 years ago, it began as a temple on land donated by the renowned calligrapher Wang Xizhi (330-361). Over the centuries, it has been a bustling center for merchants and businesses, fostering many historic shops, teahouses, and storytelling venues.
The Chong'an Temple Scenic Area embodies a blend of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. It features important cultural sites such as the Ah Bing Memorial Hall, a national cultural relic protection unit, along with provincial-level sites like the Wuxi County Library and Gong Garden.
