The Nanchan Temple Scenic Area borders Nanchang Street to the west, embodying the characteristics of a Jiangnan water town and a historical and cultural city.
It boasts a long history and a rich cultural heritage. Among the main landmarks in the scenic area is Nanchan Temple, which was first built in the Southern Dynasty (420-589). The Miaoguang Pagoda inside the temple, built during the Song Dynasty (960-1279), was named by Emperor Huizong of Song. Since the Ming Dynasty (1368-1611), it has been recognized as one of Wuxi's Eight Scenic Spots.
The scenic area has now transformed into an open historical and cultural space that combines tourism, dining, shopping, and entertainment. It is regarded as a must-visit destination for both domestic and international visitors to explore Wuxi and experience Jiangnan culture.
