The former residence of Xue Fucheng (1838-1894) is a grand official mansion belonging to Xue Fucheng, a notable thinker, diplomat, political commentator, and writer from the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The Xue Family Garden spans over 20,000 square meters and features more than 160 rooms, with a stable and spacious layout.
The residence features seven courtyards intertwined with gardens. It showcases an architectural style that combines Western influences with traditional elements, along with a garden-focused layout ideal for social gatherings.
It holds considerable historical, research, and tourism importance and was therefore designated as a major historical and cultural site under national protection in 2001.
