Built in 1912 by Rong Zongjing and Rong Desheng, brothers and pioneers of Chinese industry, Plum Garden was named after the plum blossoms they planted on the hills.
The scenic area is divided into three main sections. The plum blossom area features many cultural relics and historical sites of the Rong Family, including China's only Plum Culture Museum.
The Horticultural Expo Garden combines gardens of different styles, including windmills, suspension bridges, coffee houses, and churches. As you walk through it, the extensive lawns, tall camphor trees, vibrant perennial flowers, and reflections in shallow water all create a strong exotic atmosphere.
The Huaxi Scenic Area features over 100 species of exotic flowers and plants alongside grand rock formations. Tall green trees with broad canopies alternate with striking large rocks, and gentle streams meander through the landscape.
Decades of dedicated gardening have given the scenic area four unique features: plum blossoms in early spring, lotus in midsummer, osmanthus in autumn, and snow during winter.
