Wuxi University in Jiangsu province hosted a job fair specifically aimed at international students from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative on Nov 21.
The event featured 54 overseas Chinese enterprises offering more than 700 job opportunities. These roles included traditional positions such as sales, administration, and translation, as well as new roles in fields like new energy, automation, and big data.
Nearly 400 international students, ranging from undergraduates to doctoral candidates, attended the fair. They came from universities including Jiangnan University, Jiangsu University, and Jiangsu University of Technology.
Wang Xiaohong, deputy general manager of Jiangsu JD-Link International Logistics, spoke on behalf of the participating enterprises. She emphasized the urgent need for versatile talent familiar with local languages, cultures, and market demands, especially for companies involved in BRI logistics channels for more than a decade. She assured that international students joining their company would receive a wide-ranging development platform, thorough training, and competitive salaries.

A Yemeni student from Wuxi University recounted his internship at a foreign trade firm in Wuxi. He feels that international students hold a unique edge – they understand their home cultures and are well-versed in the Chinese market. This combination is highly beneficial for job hunting. He hopes to join a Jiangsu company with an international outlook, helping to amplify China's voice and foster connections.
Wuxi University, a full-time public undergraduate institution, recently received approval from the Ministry of Education to establish WXU Novosibirsk College, the first Sino-foreign cooperative educational institution. The university has also partnered with 40 overseas universities, enrolling and training over 300 international students from BRI countries.
