In 1895, the Yeqin Spinning Mill was established in Wuxi, unveiling the first page of the city's century-old history as a renowned commercial and industrial hub. A century later, high-end textiles and apparel have become one of Wuxi's advantageous industries. As the cornerstone of the entire manufacturing sector, technological innovation is undeniably crucial to the development of the textile industry. To achieve breakthroughs in the new era, relying on technological innovation to drive "intelligent transformation, digitalization, and networking" is paramount.

Developing the high-end textiles and apparel industry focuses on building key industrial chains such as new fibers, advanced textiles, and branded apparel. Relying on key areas like Jiangyin, Yixing, and Xishan, Wuxi will accelerate the establishment of research and development innovation service platforms like the National Advanced Functional Fiber Innovation Center, the National Textile Product Quality Supervision Testing Center (Jiangyin), the Jiangsu Textile Research Institute, and the Institute of Knitting Technology of Jiangnan University, as well as internationally influential trading platforms like the China Textile Material Exchange Center. This will promote upgrades in product technology and value improvement, steering the industry towards high-end, branded, fashionable, and green development, aiming to build Wuxi into a high-end apparel industry base with internationally leading standards.
