Pyrography is a municipal intangible cultural heritage item.
Origin
Pyrography, also called "fire needle embroidery", or heated pen painting, is an art that involves scorching images onto surfaces with heated metal tools. Folklore suggests it originated during the late Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24), over 2,000 years ago.
Features
Pyrography is a unique art form that combines traditional Chinese painting and decorative crafts. It can imitate styles such as traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy, oil painting, and realistic painting, making it a rare and valuable artistic genre in ancient China.
The finest pieces align with the essence of Chinese ink and wash painting, while true artistry is found in spontaneous creation that naturally integrates with the material's grain. Their lasting appeal stems from simple elegance and timelessness.
