Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province saw consumer spending reach an impressive 9.48 billion yuan ($1.33 billion) during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday period from Oct 1 to 7, up 11.7 percent from the previous year, according to local municipal bureau of commerce.
Various exhibitions and sales events became important platforms for trade-ins. The four-day Wuxi Auto Show featured over 70 brands and more than 600 models, attracting 100,000 visitors and generating 300 million yuan in sales.
This holiday season saw the emergence of new commercial districts and business formats, injecting new energy into the consumer market. On Oct 1, the Aegean Shopping Center opened, offering a garden-style setting and hosting over 130 quality brands, including more than 40 flagship stores, across shopping, dining, and leisure options.
The "Moved XR" experience store, the first of its kind in Jiangsu, utilizes the unique cultural and historical appeal of Meili Ancient Town to offer immersive experiences such as "Silkroad Glory" and "National Treasures" through advanced VR and MR technology.
"With full sensory interaction, visitors transform from traditional tourists and spectators into cultural participants and future creators," said Shang Chenyu, co-founder and chief marketing officer of S-instant. In the first seven days of the holiday, the store welcomed over 15,000 visitors.
The 1969 Creative Workshop launched the Southern Night Market, featuring live shows and cultural performances, along with a 20 percent discount on all items. This effort increased daily foot traffic to over 40,000, with 65 percent of visitors coming at night.
