The Wuxi University for Senior Citizens has recently reopened following renovations, and its senior students are eagerly attending their long-anticipated classes.
Since its founding in 2007, the university's buildings have gradually declined in condition, with limited functional teaching spaces and relatively outdated modern facilities. As a result, the university's renovation and upgrades have been prioritized as a key livelihood project by local authorities for 2025.
The renovation project emphasizes safety, aims to enhance the campus's beauty, and focuses on accessibility for the elderly. Non-slip flooring, handrails in hallways, and soft wall coverings have been installed. The exteriors of buildings, garden paths, and landscaping have also been improved. New facilities and equipment, such as a multi-function hall, music rooms, automated external defibrillators, electronic screens, and projectors, have also been introduced.
Meanwhile, Taihu New City University for Senior Citizens has been completed and welcomed its first group of students.
The school provides a total of 31 senior education courses, covering instrumental music, dance, painting, calligraphy, and flower arranging. It also features courses on traditional culture like Go, tea ceremony, and tai chi, along with specialized classes such as video production, drone filming, and DeepSeek applications.
