The 2025 Yixing-Changxing Tea Competition and Tasting Event took place in Yangxian Ecotourism Resort in Yixing, a county-level city in Wuxi, on July 30.
These events act as a platform for cultural exchange and regional cooperation. Tea experts and enthusiasts came together to compare the distinctive flavors of Yixing and Changxing teas. The discussions centered on enhancing the tea industry and cultural tourism, with plans to create joint tea tourism routes and pursue sustainable development initiatives.
Yixing and Changxing, a county in Zhejiang province, both with a rich tradition of tribute tea, displayed their renowned teas. The event emphasized their shared cultural heritage and exceptional tea-making expertise.
Yixing and Changxing share a rich historical link through tea. Since the Tang Dynasty (618-907), both regions have jointly produced imperial tribute teas, and today they are renowned for their high-quality teas. Yixing boasts 75,000 mu (5,000 hectares) of tea plantations and has received multiple national recognitions. Meanwhile, Changxing's Zisun tea is the first in Zhejiang to earn national geographic indication protection.
