The State Council approved on July 11 an application to adjust the area of the Comprehensive Bonded Zone in the Wuxi National Hi-Tech District (WND). The adjustment increases the zone's area by 1.11 square kilometers, expanding the zone's total area to 3.49 square kilometers.
This expansion marks a significant step forward in enhancing the zone's high-level opening-up, allowing the zone to attract global resources. The new area is expected to accommodate new projects with a total investment of at least $10 billion.
As a special customs supervision area featuring bonded zones, export processing zones, and bonded logistics parks, the comprehensive bonded zone enjoys various preferential policies, including tax exemptions and rebates. Established on April 28, 2012, the Wuxi Hi-Tech District Comprehensive Bonded Zone was the fourth such zone in Jiangsu and the 20th nationwide.

The zone has attracted numerous high-profile projects, including investments exceeding $100 million from global giants such as SK hynix, Seagate, and Murata. To date, it has registered over 70 enterprises and drawn $23.8 billion in foreign investment.
A robust industrial ecosystem has formed in the zone, centered on integrated circuits, electronics, and communications, and supported by international trade, logistics, cross-border e-commerce, and maintenance services.
In 2024, the zone recorded 174.04 billion yuan ($24.26 billion) in imports and exports, up 24.3 percent year-on-year, advancing to 7th place nationwide and 2nd in Jiangsu province.
