A series of culturally rich flash shows with Chinese charm unfolded in Brussels, Belgium, on June 9, local time, heralding the opening of "Jiangsu Week of the Grand Canal Culture in China".
On the iconic stepped square of Mount of the Arts in Brussels, artists from the Wuxi National Orchestra and Wuxi Symphony Orchestra in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, performed with traditional Chinese instruments such as the flute, guzheng, erhu, pipa, accompanied by violins, presenting classic tunes like Jasmine Flower.

The unique appearance and sound of erhu, a two-stringed fiddle, made one Italian visitor very curious. After the performance, she immediately approached the artists to talk. She was very impressed up on learning that they started learning the instrument at the age of four.
Meanwhile, young actors from the Wuxi Xiju Opera Theater showcased the unique charm of Xiju Opera, an intangible cultural heritage item from near the Grand Canal. Nearby, three young girls from Morocco, who had been admiring from a distance, expressed their appreciation for the beautiful costumes of the actors and the lively performance.

2025 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union. "Jiangsu Week of the Grand Canal Culture in China" is scheduled to be held in Belgium and Croatia from June 9 to 13, bringing a "mobile feast" of Chinese Grand Canal culture to European audiences.
In Brussels, where the EU headquarters is located, cultural exchange activities such as exhibitions and cultural display events are set to take place.
