Zhao Jianjun, mayor of Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province, led a delegation to Thailand from May 18 to 20, engaging in exchanges with local governments, financial institutions, business associations, and Wuxi enterprises to further deepen ties and expand cooperation.
On May 19, the Wuxi (Bangkok) Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Conference was held in Bangkok. During the conference, several Chinese-Thai cooperation projects in parts manufacturing, cultural tourism, and modern services were signed on-site, and the Wuxi Enterprises "Going Global" League (Thailand) Cooperation and Exchange Center was inaugurated.
During his keynote speech, Zhao said that the deep friendship between Wuxi and Thailand transcends time and space. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, and he looks forward to both sides continuing to deepen economic and trade cooperation, sharing new opportunities from the Belt and Road Initiative, deepening cultural exchanges, and making greater contributions to the friendship between China and Thailand.
In his address, Zhang Xiaoxiao, minister-counsellor for economic and commercial affairs at the Chinese embassy in Thailand, mentioned that Wuxi has a complete industrial chain and abundant tourism resources, presenting significant cooperation potential with Thailand. The embassy will continue to act as a bridge between the two regions to facilitate cooperation.
Confident in the prospects of Chinese-Thai cooperation, participants expressed their intention to deepen cooperation in high-tech electronics, digital innovation, renewable energy, and new energy vehicles, contributing to the prosperity and progress of both countries.
Rayong Province is an important industrial center in Thailand, with the Thai-Chinese Rayong Industrial Zone attracting more than 270 Chinese enterprises. On May 20, the delegation engaged in discussions with governor of Rayong Province and director of the Rayong industrial management bureau. They reached a consensus on several key objectives, including the promotion of a stable business and investment environment, the facilitation of sustainable overseas development for enterprises, the acceleration of the project construction, and the enhancement of services to support the development of both regions.
During their stay in Thailand, the delegation also visited the painting exhibition featuring Wuxi's Taihu Lake and inspected Bangkok's efforts in constructing an International Consumer City.
