Wuxi, located in East China's Jiangsu province, has excelled in its efforts to build an ecological garden city over the past year.
In 2024, the city's urban area expanded by 251 hectares of green space, added 36.2 kilometers of greenways, constructed 68 parks, and enhanced more than 80 roads with vibrant floral displays.
Statistics show that since 2020, Wuxi's urban area has increased its green space by an average of 270 hectares annually, including the creation or renovation of over 300 parks and the completion of 569 kilometers of greenways.
With a strong emphasis on improving residents' daily lives and travel experiences, Wuxi has introduced numerous amenities such as drinking water stations, resting areas, and diverse sports facilities. These improvements have significantly elevated the quality of services by the city's parks and green spaces.
A bridge along the greenway connects a leisure park, ideal for quiet strolls and relaxation, with the Dading Children's Friendly Park, dedicated to science education and recreational activities for young visitors. This thoughtful design accommodates the needs of residents of all ages, fostering a greater sense of well-being within the community.
Recently, parks in Wuxi, including Plum Garden, Wuxi Zoo, Huishan Ancient Town, and Huishan Mountain National Forest Park, have installed new drinking water facilities. Visitors can easily access refreshing drinking water with a simple press of a button.
An official from the local gardening and landscaping bureau emphasized their commitment to further promoting the concept of "everywhere is a scenic spot". This approach aims to seamlessly integrate landscape aesthetics and eco-friendly principles into urban planning, construction, and management processes.
