Three streets in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, recently made the list of provincial placename cultural heritage, local media reported on Nov 18.
Wuxi is a renowned cultural and historic city and many of its streets and lanes have a long story.
Nanchang Street spans 5.5 kilometers extending from the South Gate of the city's old downtown to Xinguang Road, which epitomizes the traditional features of watertowns and witnesses the prosperous canal transport in the Jiangnan region.
The street exhibits a wide variety of cultures such as Chinese commerce and industry, ancient architecture, and religion.

Boasting a history of more than 1,700 years, Liuling Lane has something to do with Liu Ling, one of the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (AD 317-420). Boozy Liu once stayed in Jiangyin and became friends with Du Kang, a master of wine making. To commemorate their friendship, locals named a lane Liuling and an arch bridge to the east of the lane Dukang.

Shushan Street is a pedestrian street of antique beauty and was a main distribution center of Yixing ceramics in the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911). Running about 1 km, the street connects Dongpo Academy in the east and Lihe River in the west and is lined with grocery stores and ceramic workshops.
