Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province has been pursuing sustainable development to construct a more livable and comfortable environment over the past decade.

Take the Wuxi Economic Development Zone for example. It launched a three-year action plan in 2019 to beautify its roads and rivers. To date, the zone has completed the renovation of nine roads and the treatment of five rivers.

The zone has also ramped up efforts to construct the Sino-Sweden Low-Carbon Eco-City. So far, a zero-carbon transformer substation has been constructed and three eco-friendly schools are presently under construction.

According to Wang Xian, deputy director of the administrative committee of the Wuxi Economic Development Zone, the Sino-Sweden Low-Carbon Eco-City is expected to be built by the end of 2025.

Zhu Min, deputy director of the information office of the Wuxi municipal government, said at a recent press conference that Wuxi will continue improve its living and natural environment to make the city a model for a beautiful China.
