A deal to build a cultural and tourism area worth about $1 billion was signed in Nanyuan town, Yixing's Yicheng sub-district recently.
The project will leverage the natural resources in Nanyuan town to develop a large tourist area integrating facilities such as ski resorts, an experience center for unmanned aerial vehicles and an open-air cultural theater.
Yixing has been working to develop its all-for-one tourism and agriculture in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Chu Yunfang, Party secretary of Fenglin village in Guanlin town, said they have been making efforts on water treatment and constructing walking paths and bridges in an aim to develop the village into a leisure area with wonderful countryside views.
Xizhu town, known for its quality linen, will turn some abandoned factories into scenic areas and homestays and promote cultural products of linen as tourism souvenirs.
In addition, the Yixing government is planning to turn the former site of the Nanshun Flour Mill into a cultural complex featuring creative products and modern arts.
Yixing has also increased its investment in the integrated development of sports, cultural and tourism industries. Over 10 sports parks, including Longchishan Bicycle Park and Deep Oxygen Fitness Park, have been opened to the public.
