Between 00:00 and 24:00, February 6, 35 more cases of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Jiangsu, 11 of which were mild cases, 23 moderate cases and 1 case in critical condition. 12 more have been cured and discharged from hospital.
Of the newly confirmed cases, 5 were in Nanjing, 3 in Wuxi, 4 in Xuzhou, 2 in Changzhou, 9 in Suzhou, 2 in Nantong, 2 in Lianyungang, 3 in Huai’an, 2 in Yangzhou, 1 in Zhenjiang, 1 in Taizhou, and 1 in Suqian. The oldest patient was 75, and the youngest, 9. 20 were male and 15, female. All are currently under treatment in designated hospitals.
As of 24:00, February 6, 408 cases have been reported in Jiangsu accumulatively, 16 of which are mild cases, 387 moderate cases, 4 severe cases and 1 in critical condition. 38 have been cured and discharged from hospital. Of the confirmed cases, 57 were in Nanjing, 31 in Wuxi, 49 in Xuzhou, 29 in Changzhou, 69 in Suzhou, 29 in Nantong, 24 in Lianyungang, 37 in Huai’an, 16 in Yancheng, 17 in Yangzhou, 9 in Zhenjiang, 29 in Taizhou, and 12 in Suqian. Of the severe cases, 1 was in Nanjing, 2 in Suzhou and 1 in Nantong. 1case in critical conditionwas in Xuzhou. Of the cases cured and discharged, 13 were in Nanjing, 1 in Wuxi, 3 in Xuzhou, 5 in Changzhou, 4 in Suzhou, 2 in Nantong, 2 in Lianyungang, 2 in Huai’an, 3 in Yancheng, and 3 in Taizhou.
Of the traced 7,876 close contacts, 5,882 are still under medical quarantine and 1,994 have been released.
Experts urge the public to reduce outdoor activities, especially crowd gathering. Avoid using public transportation and open windows for ventilation when driving a private car. Do not go to public places with closed, limited space or poor ventilation, especially Mahjong parlors. Avoid touching items in public places. Wear a mask when going out and wash hands first when back home. In case of suspicious symptoms like fever or cough, call 12320 for advice. Seek treatment when necessary and inform the medical staff of places you have been to in the previous 2 weeks. Make sure you seek the right treatment at the right place. Do not visit multiple medical institutions in a short period of time, which may cause cross-infection.
