Urgently needed protective materials donated by overseas Chinese living in America arrived at Wuxi Sunan Shuofang International Airport on the morning of Jan 30, which will be delivered to Hubei Charity Federation immediately to combat the novel coronavirus epidemic.

The materials include 79,000 medical protective suits, 102 boxes of disposable surgical masks, 72 boxes of N95 masks, and 18 boxes of surgical examination gloves, amounting to over 2.81 million yuan ($405,115).

In order to transfer these medical materials as quickly as possible, the organizers chose the flight that departed from Chicago on Jan 29. After arriving in Wuxi, these donations were then delivered to Wuhan, Hubei province by car.

As these donations have been declared to Wuxi Customs in advance, it took less than five minutes to be checked and accepted by the airport.

Major medical materials like masks and protective suits are still needed, and the Hubei government has widened channels to ensure supply, including asking for national support, accepting donations, as well as encouraging companies in the province to resume production of the materials.
