A gathering of business leaders and industry experts featuring two days of best practice sharing and discussions around intelligent manufacturing was held on May 9-10 in the town of Xuelang in Wuxi.
An important component of the 2019 New-gen Manufacturing Conference, which was held simultaneously, the event consisted of 20 parallel forums discussing issues faced by Chinese manufacturing companies regarding digitization, networking and intelligence.
In a forum focusing on education and talent, professors and PhD supervisors from Tsinghua, Zhejiang and Fudan universities reported their latest achievements while another forum released the Research Report on the Development of Industrial Internet in the Yangtze River Delta Region.
The Yangtze River Delta Brand Research Institute and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology collaborated in formulating the report to explain the opportunities and challenges arising from the development of the industrial internet in the region.
Luo Song, deputy chief engineer of the Technology and Standard Research Institute of the Yangtze River Delta Brand Research Institute, said that a new scientific and technological revolution combined with industrial transformation is booming in today's world. In this context, the industrial internet will exert an all-round, far-reaching, and revolutionary impact on future industrial development.
Luo introduced the Yangtze River Delta region's solid industrial foundation and superior policy environment, noting that its industrial internet industry enjoys good developmental prospects. The abundance of education and talent resources indicate a promising future for the industry.

Participants also gained a deeper understanding of the industrial internet's role in regional industrial transformation after listening to a speech by Wang Xiaoming, a researcher at the Center for Sci-tech Innovation Strategy and Policy Research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. AsiaInfo Security COO Lu Guangming also gave expert advice on how to strengthen industrial internet security.
When talking about revolutions in manufacturing scenarios, Chengdu Shuzhilian Technology Co Ltd shared how the value of data, including big data and artificial intelligence technology, helps out traditional businesses.
In addition to the importance of data utilization, attendees were also taught that new thinking patterns were required for future industrial development.
