The Wuxi National Hi-Tech District (WND), China Mobile Group Jiangsu Co Ltd, Ericsson and AstraZeneca signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) for Internet of Things (IoT) based healthcare on Mar 22, Wuxi Daily reported.
Li Qiang, Party secretary of Jiangsu province, Li Xiaomin, Party secretary of Wuxi, and Leif Johansson, non-executive chairman of the board of AstraZeneca, attended the signing ceremony.
The Wuxi government will join hands with the three giants to promote the application of IoT technology in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory illnesses, angiocarpy, digestive illnesses and tumors. The project also aims to facilitate the use of IoT technology and big data for data collection in setting public health policies. The cooperation is expected to attract more IoT-based healthcare companies to settle in Wuxi, as well as bring more academicians and experts in the field of IoT-based healthcare.
"The strategic partnership demonstrates how the government and industry can work together to create an innovative ecosystem for China's healthcare industry. We anticipate that the four sides will play important roles in promoting the development of IoT for healthcare in China," said Johansson.
Li Qiang said that Jiangsu province has a good foundation in the manufacturing industry and pays much attention to the integration of informatization in industrialization. He also said that the provincial government will create a favorable investment environment for the four sides' continued cooperation in future.
