Li Xiaomin, Party secretary of Wuxi, Jiangsu province, met up with Zhao Shuanglian, chairman of the state-owned China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corporation (COFCO) on Feb 17 to discuss greater cooperation, reported Wuxi Daily.
Li began by extolling the government's achievements in recent years in building infrastructure and developing special economic zones.
Li said that the city has grasped the nation's supporting policy to build its demonstration zone of modern agriculture, by transforming the model for development, fostering new operation entities, improving equipment and technologies, which has resulted in Wuxi’s top ranking in agricultural modernization in the province.
He also spoke highly of COFCO's contributions to China's food supply security and agricultural modernization as one of the top 500 enterprises in the world and a major provider of leading agricultural products.
Li hoped that both sides will continue with their win-win partnership of development, with the city providing a sound business environment.
Zhao began by describing COFCO’s development in recent years and detailed the corporation’s focus for the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) period. He emphasized that the Yangtze River Delta region has always been COFCO's focus because of its good economic and logistical position.
And he added that he look forward to taking this opportunity to learn more about the city’s industries and seek new opportunities.
