Utrans Bonded Store on Gaolang East Road, Wuxi New District, recently opened a 900 square meters branch shop on Xinda Road, to cope with an increasing number of customers, according to thmz.com.
Utrans is the first bonded store to open in Wuxi. Its retail goods are purchased in bulk overseas and sold directly at the store after customs clearance from the Wuxi New District Free Trade Zone, according to Fan Xuefeng, deputy manager of the store.
Preferential policies at the free trade zone have helped cut many circulation processes for imports to enter the domestic market, allowing better margins and cheaper prices.
For example, Danisa Butter Cookies are sold at 49 yuan ($7.45) here, but 128 yuan in supermarkets.
Its goods cover wine, baby and mother stuff, snack food, daily chemical products, cosmetics and fresh food from over 40 countries. [Photo from thmz.com] |
To welcome the approaching Chinese New Year, the store has also launched a series of promotions, said Fan. The price for Scotch whisky is reduced to 178 yuan, 50 percent off the original price.
Utrans has plans to expand its selling network to businesses through attracting franchisees in communities. What's more, it will roll out an online shopping app to bring convenience to the residents.
The company is well-known for its successful unique business model of chain operation in free trade zones, with the aim of making importing simple in China. Its imports cover wine, baby and mother stuff, snack food, daily chemical products, cosmetics and fresh food from over 40 countries.
