Garments and purple clay teapots from Wuxi will appear on the homepage of Alibaba's trading platform, Taobao, by June 2016, in order to increase their visibility and sales, the Wuxi Daily reported.
Taobao launched a special section named "China Quality" (q.taobao.com) in July, 2015, to support high quality domestic brands. The section will highlight enterprises engaged in a city's specialties or local industries.
Taobao and Wuxi agreed to promote the city's garment manufacturing and clay teapots in the project's initial stage. The online trading magnate will soon send specially-assigned managers to Wuxi to explain detailed publicity policies, according to Chen Haiwei, director of E-Commerce in the city's bureau of commerce.
The agreement says Wuxi may select five to eight local garment enterprises and 15 purple clay enterprises to promote on the "China Quality" section. At present, nearly 60 enterprises have applied for a spot.
