Wuxi's Binhu district arranged scenic spots, agritainment farms, boutique hotels and bed & breakfasts for its promotion in Shanghai recently, according to the local portal wxrb.com.
It aimed to introduce Binhu's leisure tourism and enhance its reputation in Shanghai.
Nianhua Bay in Lingshan Scenic Region, in particular, grabbed attention during the activity, thanks to the Fourth World Buddhist Forum held in October.
In addition to performances and on-site interaction, the district’s tourism bureau launched promotions on the popular mobile messaging application WeChat.
It also joined hands with the online travel website Qunar to set up promotion activities and products through PCs and mobile phones, targeting Shanghai people.
A director of the tourism bureau said that Shanghai is Wuxi's neighbor and primary market.
Therefore, Wuxi intends to expand its tourism market and attract more self-driving tourists with Shanghai as the breakthrough point.
Binhu district, with an area of 592.7 square kilometers, lies next to China's third-largest freshwater lake, Taihu.
It is the cradle of the ancient Wu culture and the birthplace of modern enterprises.
It is also a wonderful tourist area with such attractions as Turtle Head Isle, Taihu Lake,and the Lingshan Scenic Region, the Plum Garden Scenic Spot, the Lihu Lake Scenic Area and China's first large base for movie and TV shooting and tourism CCTV Wuxi Movie/TV Base.
