Shenzhen-based Sibiono's 10-billion-yuan ($1.58 billion) health project recently landed in Mashan town, Wuxi, after three years of negotiation, reported the Wuxi Daily.
Against the background of domestic and international macro-economic depression, the Wuxi commerce bureau set up three platforms – representative offices, service stations for key foreign funded projects in other cities, especially Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and an association for global investment promotion.
The representative offices, like vanguards, target transnational corporations, high-tech companies and headquarters of chambers of commerce across the country to develop personal connections. The information of Atieva's new energy automobile project, for example, was acquired by representative offices.
Meanwhile, the service stations carry the mission of expanding business inland. They have taken root in 13 development areas and towns since 2012 and have contributed to many projects' landing in Wuxi, such as that of China Resources (Holdings) Company.
The three platforms obtain firsthand project information through visits and exchange activities, and recommend selected projects to relevant parks.
Over the past three years, the platforms have persuaded 50 projects to settle in Wuxi, with total investment up to $2.23 billion. Of them, seven projects were worth $100 million or more each.
Sibiono's project is an example. From the enterprise's perspective, they benefited by learning about Mashan town's advantages.
Wuxi mainly attracts investment in microelectronics, mechanized equipment, high and new technology industry and the modern service industries, such as biological medicine and 3D printing, said a director of the local commerce bureau.
