Taicang sees strong tourism, consumption growth during May Day holiday

Taicang welcomed a surge in visitors and consumer activity during the May Day holiday, with 17 major tourist attractions across the city receiving a combined 1 million visits, up 5.94 percent year-on-year.
Liuhe Ancient Town emerged as one of the most popular destinations. The town received more than 320,000 visits and generated over 46.22 million yuan ($6.79 million) in consumption. Intangible cultural heritage street parades and live performances attracted large crowds and created a lively festive atmosphere.
At the Alps Resort, a series of themed activities added to the holiday excitement. Coffee art markets and fireworks shows drew crowds, while newly launched promotions helped boost both visitor numbers and spending.

To further stimulate consumption, the city also distributed nearly 60,000-yuan worth of consumer vouchers during the holiday. Ten major commercial and retail enterprises monitored by local authorities are expected to achieve combined sales revenue of 93.35 million yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 7 percent.
