As China's domestically produced automobiles continue to enhance their international competitiveness, automotive exports have soared to new heights.

According to customs data, from January to November of 2025, China exported 6.34 million vehicles, marking an 18.7 percent year-on-year increase. Notably, Taicang Port contributed significantly, exporting 771,600 vehicles and accounting for over a tenth of the national total.

In 2025, Taicang Port surpassed the 800,000-vehicle export milestone, a substantial rise from last year's 484,400 vehicles. This effectively secured its position as the top automotive export hub in Jiangsu province and along the Yangtze River.

At the Haitong (Taicang) Automobile Terminal, rows of vehicles can be seen awaiting export, with two roll-on/roll-off ships loading for destinations in Europe and the Americas. "Daily arrivals have peaked at 4,000 vehicles, averaging around 3,000," said Yu Jiaxin, the terminal's scheduler.

Taicang Port's appeal lies in its efficient road-rail-water multimodal transport system, combining the low cost of water transport with the flexibility of road transport and the bulk advantages of rail.

Additionally, innovative solutions like the foldable vehicle-specific frame have tackled sea freight space constraints, boosting capacity and safety. With comprehensive logistics services, Taicang Port is poised to become the largest automotive and parts export base along the Yangtze River, aiding Chinese automakers in their global expansion.
