GREEN TAICANG, the first ocean freighter named after Taicang, a county-level city of Suzhou, docked for the first time at Taicang Port on Nov 11.

Operated by COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers, the vessel is set to sail to Brazil with about 500 commercial vehicles and 500 containers.

The vessel has an overall length of 225 meters, a width of 32.26 m and a molded depth of 21 m. It is designed with a top speed of 15 knots, a deadweight of 77,000 metric tons, and a range of 25,000 nautical miles.

For new energy vehicles export, the vessel is equipped with temperature-monitoring and warning system. To ensure the quality and safety of pulp products imported from Brazil, it also features a rotary dehumidifier. Meanwhile, thanks to zero-carbon emissions during its construction, it was granted the "Carbon Neutrality Certificate" by the China Classification Society.

Six centuries ago, great Chinese navigator Zheng He set sail from Taicang, embarking on his seven monumental maritime explorations. Today, Taicang has forged economic and trade ties with over 180 countries and regions, and GREEN TAICANG will continue Zheng's legacy, bringing the city into a new era of global trade.
