It is the first successfully repurposed toll plaza under the G42 Taicang-Changzhou section expansion project.

The renovation included demolishing old facilities, building new toll islands and lanes, upgrading electromechanical systems, renovating lighting and drainage systems, and improving traffic safety installations.

Meanwhile, Liuhe Bridge on the Jiading-Liuhe section of the G15 Shenyang-Haikou Expressway has completed its eastbound widening, expanding from six to eight lanes. The upgraded bridge connects southward to the G15 Shanghai section and northward to the G42 Taicang-Changzhou section, enhancing connectivity between Shanghai and Suzhou while easing congestion on the G15 Jiading-Liuhe stretch.

In recent years, Taicang has accelerated efforts to integrate its transportation network with Shanghai. The Taicang pilot section of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Intercity Railway has entered its main construction phase. Key progress has been made on the Shanghai–Suzhou–Nantong Railway's Taicang segment and the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-speed Railway.
