The event saw the signing of a collaboration memorandum between Taicang and the Japan-China Economic Relations and Trade Centre. Both sides aimed to deepen collaboration in a variety of areas like new energy, bio-medicine, logistics networks for commercial services and international trade. To bolster mutual understanding, they will hold interactive visits, study tours, forums, exhibitions, and international conferences.

Japan has emerged as Taicang's third-largest source of foreign investment. To date, around 200 Japanese enterprises, including Honda Motor Co, Tamagawa Seiki Co, Toyota Tsusho Corporation, and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding, have established operations in Taicang, with cumulative investments of over $2 billion.

Taicang has long promoted Sino-Japanese bonds. For instance, Taicang Port, the largest foreign trade port in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region, serves 18 weekly direct voyages to 13 major Japanese ports, such as Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, and Osaka. This connectivity not only fuels the growth of Jiangsu province and the whole YRD region but also strengthens partnerships with Japanese regions.
