From 1405 to 1433, the legendary Chinese navigator Zheng He (1371-1433) set sail from Taicang, leading more than 200 colossal vessels with over 27,000 sailors on seven epic voyages to the Western Seas. Their routes spanned more than 50,000 kilometers, reaching over 30 countries and regions across Asia and Africa.

Their expeditions were more than just navigation; they were living testaments to China's peaceful civilization. The fleet forged trade ties, established diplomatic friendships, and shared prosperity with nations along the route.

In 2025, as the world commemorates the 620th anniversary of Zheng He's voyages, Taicang is accelerating its port and shipping logistics sector and streamlining its business environment, thereby driving port-city-industry integration and advancing the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
