Chancay's first multi-functional cargo ship sets sail from Taicang
The COSCO Shipping Fountain, carrying over 3,300 metric tons of equipment, departed from Taicang Port in Suzhou on April 7, bound for Chancay Port in Peru. It is the first multi-purpose cargo ship bound for Chancay since the establishment of a sister-port relationship between Suzhou Port and Chancay Port on March 3.

Chancay Port is one of COSCO Shipping Holdings' landmark projects under the Belt and Road Initiative in Latin America. Since it began operating in November 2024, Chancay Port has reduced the one-way time between China and Peru from 35 days to 23 days, cutting logistics costs by 20 percent.
In the first quarter of this year, the value of goods exported from Suzhou Port to Peru, such as automobiles and construction machinery, amounted to around 500 million yuan ($68.53 million), representing a 30-percent year-on-year increase.
