On Dec 12, the Haitong Taicang Auto Terminal, the largest automobile roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) terminal along the Yangtze River, officially commenced operations at Taicang Port.

The terminal, which is a joint venture between Shanghai International Port Group, SAIC Motor, and Jiangsu Port Logistics Group, features a 708-meter quay that can simultaneously accommodate two 70,000-metric-ton international RoRo vessels and one 3,000-ton domestic RoRo vessel. Its 860,000-square-meter yard includes 32,000 parking spaces and is designed to handle an annual throughput of 1.3 million vehicles.

The new facility is expected to enhance the efficiency of automotive logistics in the Yangtze River Delta, facilitating the integration of production, transportation, and sales for Chinese automotive brands, thus strengthening the competitiveness of domestic vehicles in the global market.

As a major hub for automotive exports, Taicang Port has seen substantial growth this year. From January to November, the port exported 437,300 vehicles, marking a 19.8 percent increase year-on-year. These exports reached 116 countries and regions across five continents.
