UAES Taicang branch celebrates inauguration of new project

On Oct 16, the United Automotive Electronic Systems (UAES) Taicang Branch celebrated the inauguration of its New Energy Vehicle Powertrain Project and Phase III Factory.

Established in 1995, UAES is a joint venture between Zhong-Lian Automotive Electronics, a subsidiary of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp (SAIC) Motor, and Bosch. The new project, supported by a 5.05-billion-yuan ($709.48 million) investment, is expected to generate annual sales exceeding 10 billion yuan once fully operational.

In his address, Wang Xiangyuan, Party secretary of Taicang, reaffirmed Taicang's dedication to fostering a market-driven, law-based, and international business environment. He expressed hope that UAES will expand its operations in Taicang and attract more partners to the city.

SAIC Motor president Jia Jianxu highlighted the company's ongoing collaboration with Bosch to explore new technologies and products in the new energy vehicle sector, aiming for shared success. Jia also thanked Taicang for its extensive support for UAES, from talent development and project assistance to favorable policies, which have created a thriving business environment.

Stefan Hartung, chairman of the board of management at Bosch, acknowledged China's position as the world's largest automotive market and a leader in the industry's global transformation. He expressed Bosch's eagerness to contribute to this change and pledged full support for China's new energy vehicle goals. He said Bosch's confidence in the Chinese market is now stronger than ever, and the company is eager to support its continued growth.

Xiong Weiming, general manager of UAES, thanked the Taicang government for its comprehensive support, which enabled the rapid completion and operation of the Phase III factory in just 18 months. He also commended the local government's proactive approach in addressing company needs, such as providing talent apartments.
