UNIDO officer visits Taicang

Wang Xiangyuan, Party secretary of Taicang, Suzhou, Jiangsu province, recently met with Wu Yabin, head of the Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO) Beijing of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), to discuss collaboration on sustainable development.

Wang highlighted Taicang's strong commitment to green sustainable development across various sectors. He cited the establishment of the China-EU (Taicang) Green Digital Innovation Cooperation Zone, aimed at implementing a "new energy-new industry-digital economy" model and collaborating with the European Union on carbon footprint management. 

Additionally, he underscored the widespread adoption of green electricity by local businesses and lauded Donglin village's eco-agriculture practices as a national exemplar of green development. 

Wang expressed hope for UNIDO to consider Taicang as a testing ground for circular economy development and the establishment of ecological industrial parks.

Wu Yabin expressed optimism about potential cooperation between UNIDO and Taicang in areas such as intelligent manufacturing, smart agriculture and food, circular economy, energy efficiency, digital talent development, ecological industrial parks, and Sino-German cooperation.

Headquartered in Vienna, Austria, UNIDO is a specialized agency of the United Nations dedicated to promoting sustainable industrial development and fostering international cooperation. It also serves as the UN General Assembly's multilateral technical assistance agency.
