Major projects progress smoothly in H1 in Taicang
According to the report of the development and reform commission of Taicang, a county-level city in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, the city's 190 major projects this year have completed a total investment of 16.87 billion yuan ($2.33 billion), with an investment completion rate of 61.9 percent in the first half of this year.
Significant progress has been made on the seven major provincial projects in the first half. Among them, the Huaneng Taicang Power Plant's 2×1 million-kilowatt unit expansion project, with an investment of 8.1 billion yuan, has reached an annual investment completion rate of 77.3 percent.
This power plant, set up in June 1997, is a joint project between China and Singapore.

In the first half of the year, construction began on all 69 municipal and higher-tier key projects.
By the end of June, the new energy vehicle powertrain project of the United Automotive Electronic Systems (UAES) in Taicang had already achieved an annual investment completion rate of 96.9 percent.
Established in 1995, UAES is a joint venture between China's Zhonglian Automotive Electronics and Germany's Robert Bosch. In 2017, it set up a production base in Taicang.
