Taicang excels in formulating industry standards

Updated: January 30, 2024

Taicang, a city known for its manufacturing prowess in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, has been making significant strides in formulating industry standards in recent years. Enterprises from the city have actively participated in formulating standards in specific industries in order to continuously improve the level of research, development and manufacturing.

The inaugural ceremony and first working group meeting of the National Forging Machinery Standardization Technical Committee's Green and Low-Carbon Bending Equipment Working Group were held in Taicang recently. The group is the city's first national professional standardization technical organization established by private enterprises, representing another significant milestone in Taicang's efforts to develop standardization technical institutions.

Deratech Machine Tool (Suzhou) Corp, which is based in Taicang, has been actively promoting the transformation and upgrading of green manufacturing, enhancing independent innovation capabilities in key technological areas and serving as a pioneer in driving the standardization of high-end equipment manufacturing.

"Leveraging the advanced technology of Deratech Machine Tool and the strength of other leading enterprises, the working group aims to develop national and industry standards related to peak carbon emissions, carbon neutrality, low-carbon emissions, green manufacturing and energy conservation, contributing to the green and low-carbon transformation and upgrading of industrial enterprises," said Ma Liqiang, secretary-general of the National Forging Machinery Standardization Technical Committee.

Last year, Taicang released three international standards, 68 national standards and 17 industry standards. It has more than 60 members serving on domestic standardization committees.
