Taicang Port has been accelerating its comprehensive intelligent and digital transformation, giving rise to new leaders in this domain.

The port, based in Taicang, Suzhou, Jiangsu province, currently boasts one global "lighthouse factory", three municipal-level smart factories, 18 provincial-level smart workshops, and 35 municipal-level smart workshops.

The city’s global lighthouse factory is Procter & Gamble's Taicang factory, which is P&G’s largest production and logistics base in Asia.

The factory has achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. Through dedicated efforts in sustainable development, P&G's Taicang factory is not only the first P&G factory in China to achieve "zero landfill", but also the first in the daily chemical industry in Jiangsu to be powered entirely by renewable energy.

Xuchuan Chemical, located at Taicang Port, is a standout company in smart manufacturing that focuses on the research, production, and sale of polyurethane as a national-level high-tech enterprise.

Zhang Weidong, a division general manager at the company, said that the company's smart equipment has achieved a 100 percent interconnection rate.

"We have automated the entire process from raw material input to production and packaging. In the future, we will continue to focus on achieving automation in three-dimensional warehousing," said Zhang.

The company has been recognized as a municipal-level exemplary smart workshop for 2023 and selected as a national-level exemplary scenario in smart manufacturing, making it the first company in the port area to be included on the list.
