The livestreaming e-commerce industry in Taicang, Suzhou, Jiangsu province, experienced rapid development in 2023, with its sales seeing a 20 percent growth compared to the previous year.

The city's online sales are estimated to reach 21.94 billion yuan ($3.05 billion) in 2023, an increase of 18.6 percent year-on-year.

Local businesses played a crucial role in driving this surge in the livestreaming e-commerce industry. Among them is the Taicang Aiku Livestream E-Commerce Industrial Park, which is dedicated to incubating firms specializing in livestreaming e-commerce, training talents and providing third-party services for the field.

The industrial park was recently listed as a provincial-level livestreaming e-commerce park for 2023, according to the Suzhou Bureau of Commerce.

In addition, Suzhou Koushuiwa Food Co Ltd in Taicang was selected as a provincial-level demonstration enterprise for e-commerce for the period from 2024 to 2025.

The city has also actively organized related events to support the livestreaming e-commerce industry.

Last year, Taicang held the 2023 Yangtze River Delta Livestreaming E-commerce Product Selection Promotion Event, which facilitated connection between e-commerce platforms with local agricultural enterprises.

In the same year, the 2023 Taicang Livestreaming Contest was held in the city, aiming to discover more talents in this sector.
