Agreements for launching 22 German-funded projects with a combined investment of $430 million in Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, were signed at the 2023 Jiangsu-Germany Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference held in the city on Sept 25.
The AHK Academy, which is China's first dual education institution, was inaugurated at the conference.
Huang Yuefeng, secondary inspector of the European Department of the Ministry of Commerce, noted at the conference that Taicang has over the past 30 years set a good example in carrying out cooperation with Germany by offering high-quality government services and hoped that more foreign enterprises will expand investment in China.
Wang Xiangyuan, Party secretary of Taicang, said the city has been making efforts to build itself into a demonstration zone for cooperating with Germany by deepening ties in fields such as economics and trade, ports, and education.
Lukas Meyer, acting Consul General of Germany in Shanghai, noted the conference was aimed at expanding exchanges between Jiangsu province and Germany, conducting diversified cooperation in key fields, and ensuring the stability of industrial and supply chains.
Taicang is currently home to nearly 500 German enterprises engaged in core spare parts for new energy vehicle, aerospace and machine tools.
