Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, has been shortlisted as one of the cities most satisfying to entrepreneurs in 2023, according to an announcement released at the 2023 Entrepreneurs' Happiness Dialogue held in the city on Sept 19.

The evaluation indicators include enterprises' efficiency costs, policy environment and public service capacity, and receiving the honor indicates that Taicang has made significant strides in optimizing its business environment.

Ren Weidong, Party secretary of Oriental Outlook, which organized the assessment, said during the event that the happiness of entrepreneurs is the touchstone of a city's high-quality development, and his organization decided to hold the event in Taicang largely due to its solid industrial foundation, favorable business environment and strong innovative atmosphere.

Wang Xiangyuan, Party secretary of Taicang, noted that Taicang has in recent years been making efforts to bolster its signature industries, improve urban and rural landscapes and strengthen social governance to create a better environment for entrepreneurs looking to start businesses.

A series of discussions revolving around the manufacturing industry, business environment, and high-quality development was also held at the conference.
