Taicang makes progress in improving city management

Authorities of Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province have in recent years been making efforts to improve its city management.
For example, authorities have channeled more resources towards upgrading its city landscapes, built six squares, enhanced lighting facilities, and improved the appearance of 30 small alleys from 2018 to 2020.
Authorities have implemented a series of measures, including launching a digital management platform in 2009, renovating outdoor advertising facilities in 2011, upgrading public toilet facilities in 2016, and building more than 2,000 public parking spots in 2019, to strengthen its urban management.
Authorities have also been exploring new means of social governance, such as launching grid-based governance in 2017, and providing public legal services, to strengthen public security.
