In 1993, Taicang KERN-LIEBERS Springs Co Ltd became the first German company to be established in Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province.
KERN-LIEBERS Springs had only six employees and a 400-square-meter factory at that time, with a focus on manufacturing seat belt springs. Currently it has more than 1,000 employees and a 50,000-square-meter modern facility, noted Simon Veit, senior vice president of KERN-LIEBERS Group.
KERN-LIEBERS Springs, a hidden champion in the springs industry, produces 1,869 springs a year, with its seat belt spring products accounting for 70 percent of China's market.
The high-quality precision springs produced by KERN-LIEBERS Springs have been used in fields like automobiles, electronics, communications, transportation, medical devices, and household appliances.
The significant progress made by KERN-LIEBERS Springs is largely due to it introducing the dual education system and establishing a training center for carrying out the education system in 2001.
Zhou Zhihao, who graduated from a dual education training session in 2004, is now a production manager of KERN-LIEBERS Springs.
KERN-LIEBERS Springs' outstanding achievements is a microcosm of Sino-German cooperation over the past 30 years in Taicang, which is currently home to 470 German enterprises and more than 10 dual education centers.
