Authorities of Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, held an investment promotion conference in Shanghai on Jan 31.

Authorities introduced the city's three pillar industries - high-end equipment, advanced materials, as well as modern logistics and trade, at the conference.

Related agencies also outlined favorable policies and available land resources at the conference.

Wang Xiangyuan, Party secretary of Taicang, said at the conference that attracting more high-quality projects will be crucial for the city's high-quality development and that he hopes more entrepreneurs make more investments in the city.

The city saw a combined investment of 93.9 billion yuan ($13.61 billion) and an actual use of foreign capital of $590 million in 2022. In addition, Taicang added eight unicorn enterprises last year.

These achievements are largely due to efforts made by authorities to continuously optimize the business environment. Efforts include improving government services, providing financial support, and strengthening cooperation with professional investment platforms.

An investor said that he decided to invest in Taicang because of its efficient services and livable environment, as well as its comparative advantage in manufacturing borne out of its cooperation with German enterprises over the past 30 years.
