Taicang, a county-level city in East China's Jiangsu province, has been making efforts in recent years to attract more high-caliber talents.

The city has implemented a series of measures including holding innovation and venture contests and promoting cooperation with headhunters to bring in top talents.

Taicang introduced four national level talents and 13 provincial level talents in 2021. The number of new provincial level talents grew 225 percent year-on-year.

Over 90 percent of the top talents in the city are engaged in strategic industries such as high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, aviation and aerospace and biomedicine.

Taicang has been also leveraging innovation platforms, including the Suzhou office of Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to nurture high-tech enterprises and talents.

Other platforms, including the Taicang campuses of Northwestern Polytechnical University and Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, are also being constructed.
