E-sports industry booming in Taicang

An e-sports competition final was held on June 11 in Taicang, Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, with QGhappy emerging the winner.

QGhappy is the first team to have won five championships in a row.

Taicang has hosted many similar competitions in recent years. Last October, it signed an agreement with TiMi Studio Group, which focuses on developing high-end mobile games, to promote the development of the e-sports industry in the city.

TiMi Studio Group is affiliated to Tencent, which is a world-leading internet and technology company based in Shenzhen, China.

Taicang has made great progress in developing its e-sports industry since it welcomed its first e-sports company in 2011.

In 2018, the city established an e-sports society and set up an e-sports school at the Suzhou Chien-Shiung Institute of Technology.

There are presently more than 1,500 people working in the city's e-sports sector, which is home to over 70 e-sports companies and seven e-sports clubs. More than 500 contests and live streaming activities are held in Taicang every year.
